The nomination e-mail from Katy’s fan read “Her voice is just like Jessica Simpson!” We cringe when we see e-mail submissions like that because usually, the video isn’t always as the title depicts. However, Katy’s fan (Bella100) almost nails this description of Katy. Despite the blonde hair and southern belle look, Katy’s nothing like Jessica Simpson…she just might be better. Flipping through several of her videos, you can’t help but be awed at her vocal range, reaching beyond that of what we’ve typically heard from Simpson. Besides her vocals, Katy seems to have a natural stage prescience - showing nothing but a sense of comfort on stage.

Katy has several styles ranging from pop to country. She lists her influences as Christinia Aguilera, Stacie Orrico, and Whitney Houston. Fans have commented that she “reminds [them] of Carrie Underwood except with a more commercial appeal due to [her] pop and R&B.” Katy’s videos are recorded by her supportive fiancee, Mike, who fans should thank because without him, her talent would have been kept unknown.
